Okay, I've decided to do it - I decided to have a go at my own friending frenzy. I'm looking to add a few new friends to keep things active around here.

For those of you who haven't seen one before here's the deal:

1.) Post a comment to this entry giving a little bit of information about you, your interests, what sort of friends you're after, etc...
2.) Read the comments other people have left and reply to those you would like to add
3.) Advertise the frenzy on your own journal so more people come to join in
4.) Add lots of new friends and have fun
5.) As the host you don't have to add me and, if I don't feel common ground, I don't have to add you. However, if you do want to add me, just let me know in your comment
6.) The friendzy will remain a public entry.

I haven't added anyone new in a pretty long time, but would like to, just to keep it alive in here. I missed LJ so much during the time that I was absent, but hopefully am back in full force now. I feel kinda silly doing a bio of myself here, because I'd imagine most of you know about anything you want to know about me. But if you've got a question, just ask in comments and I'll do my best to answer.

So, friend away. Hopefully I'll get some new people on my list, and you might find some new friends as well. And I don't even know if I'm doing this right! I've never done one of these. I guess to those of you looking for new people, you link this entry on your own journal, so potential new friends can find me? And my friends comment, so y'all can see each other and see if there's anyone on my own list that you might be interested in getting to know? Do I have this right? :-P Just trying to be a good hostess!

Oh my gosh, you have no idea! It's like coming back to therapy or something! Thank you...and I'm glad to be back, too. I missed regular LJing and everyone here SOOOOO much.

I haven't added new people in ages, but what the hey...I'm Gena, I'm 38, I'm a struggling writer living in Brooklyn, NY. My posting tends to range from regular to sporadic, but I do read my f-page every day. Uh...I like fine wine, walks on the beach and men who aren't afraid to cry.

You know, all these years you've been on my friends list, I don't know that I ever realized you write professionally. I mean, I'm not're a very good one, but still.

I haven't added new people in ages, too, but since my remaining active friends list seems to have dwindled down to double digits, I figured I'd try to get some new blood in here.

I'm Leslie, 49 from Little Ferry, NJ. Married, mom to Alan - long time LJ'er. I test computer software. And am about to travel for training for a new job.

Yeah, it seems everyone defected over to Facebook a year or two ago. :-/ Facebook is fine...for what it is. But LJ will always be special. Thanks for posting!

my name's bethanne. i'm a newlywed and my husband and i live with two cats that are adorable. i'm an artist, but the day job finds me working in an office full of office chairs and ergonomic equipment (i edit reports and process cases for a state-government office.) i've been on lj for almost ten years and enjoy making new friends, i love music, reading, writing, photography, travel, baseball, random stuff, other stuff.

journal is friends only and all i ask is that if anyone adds me, to PLEASE comment and let me know. (i don't have notifications that let me know if someone's added me. so it only takes me a few seconds to add people by that. i'm a weird kid.)

I have been wanting to add new LJ friends, too. A lot of my friends have left and I would like to make some new friends who are active. I will steal your post. :P

Though I've read this a few times and I'm not 100% sure how it works.

I think it's just that people will cross-post that I/you/whomever is having a "friending event", therefore, sending people over to check out your LJ, and the word gets spread. And MY friends will leave comments here, in case someone wants to check out their journals. I guess? That sounds logical, I think.

A lot of my friends have left, too. I think some defected to Facebook while others are just not active on the interwebs anymore for whatever reason. So, hopefully this will be good!
Good luck, and I hope you find some new friends, too.

I copied this from my frenzy so I'm not usually this full of myself, I swear!! I updated it as some things have changed even in this short period of time...

About me:

I'm 30 years old and live in Plymouth, MA with my husband Chris and our two dachshunds, Lucy and Cooper. I am a National HR Business Manager for the field services division of a major retailer. My career is very important to me and I tend to post about work often. I have a Bachelors degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology and have been in the HR field for almost 8 years. I travel a lot for work - but we've been on restriction since September. I spend a lot of time in the Chicago area. My husband is a pilot and spends about half the month away from home. Being a pilot's wife has it's ups and downs but for the most part I'm very happy as it allows me to retain my own life and also have our life together. He was furloughed from his position with a private airline almost 2 years ago, so there was a dramatic change in our relationship and household as I took on the responsibility for the majority of our income. He was just recently recalled to that former position so we're preparing for yet another huge change back to where we were 2 years ago!

We have been trying to conceive for about 17 months and I was recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I am currently under the care of a Reproductive Endocrinologist and will be starting my second round of fertility treatment (meds and IUI) this week. I have a project baby filter where I get detailed about this aspect of my life so please let me know if you want to be added to that as well! My mother is batshit insane and my friends are my true family. I love my therapist, Cardio Dance class at my gym, yoga, and pilates.

I am active in a national dachshund rescue and spend a lot of my "free" time promoting animal rescue and welfare. I also recently signed up to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. I am a season ticket holder to the Boston Red Sox and love all things Boston sports related. I love traveling and all things beach / summer. I live 1/4 mile from the ocean and can sometimes hear the waves at night - I can't imagine ever living somewhere landlocked. I learned to play golf but still suck at it - I enjoy snowshoeing in the winter and kayaking in the summer. Finally, I'm a wino - I absolutely love wine and established a Wine Club with my friends that has doubled in size in one year! We meet once a month and it's probably one of the best things I've ever done (which may or may not be pathetic LOL). I also love all things reality TV - I think enough at work and like to zone out on other people's drama whenever possible.

I post at least once a week, but try to update every couple of days (and may even surprise you by updating more than once in a day).

Who I friend:

I am looking for people with similar interests and at a similar point in their lives. I won't typically add anyone under the age of 25 - my journal is filled with my honesty, opinions, and life experiences and I share them not only for myself but to get feedback, advice, support, and have a feeling of friendship. I'm pretty opinionated but I think I do a good job at respecting other opinions and giving mine when asked for or when we're at a comfortable point in our "friendship" where I know you understand I'm coming from my heart. I do read every day and comment as much as possible - so I'm looking for an active LJ'er. That's basically about it - I'm not too picky!

I am 42, turning 43 in June and have had my share of female issues, so I'm very interested in the pregnancy filter. So I look forward to hearing about your experiences. I have no kids (yet), but hope to start that journey at some point.

Gena sent me! My flist has been a ghost town lately so I thought I'd play.

I'm Julie, 36, California native transplanted to a tiny town in central New Mexico. I live with my husband and our cat who I fuss over like she's our child. I work from home so I spend my days in pj's with messy hair listing to various NPR podcasts that make me cry my eyes out. (I've been come really tender hearted in my old age.) I like to embroider, take pictures, bake, write letters, keep an eye on the neighborhood cats (I'm like Gladys Kravitz to them) and read.

Hi! I came here via [ profile] annietopia (who is awesome, and I am also friends with the equally awesome [ profile] psychgurl) read through your witty and well-written profile and determined that we might indeed be sympatico for a couple of reasons. One, your intolerance for poor grammar. I freely admit that I am a grammar and spelling snob. Another, your kitty love. I have three cats of my own and they are part of my family. They have goofy nicknames, and I sing them songs, and I kiss them daily. I was vegetarian for about three years and am pondering some type of return -- pescetarian is an option. I am liberal. I am a Southerner. You know how tough the mix of the two can be at times. ;)

I'm 33, married and work part-time as a freelance writer so I can stay home with my baby girl (who is 13 months old). I'm a privacy freak (is this in direct contradiction to participating in friending frenzies? I don't care!) so my journal is 100% friends only. To learn more about me, you'll have to just friend me and read this entry. If you don't like it, then don't feel bad about going. :)

I let it all hang out in my journal. I'm a mercurial sort of person, often either "on the top of the world or in the depths of despair." So be forewarned. I use cuts...sometimes. I post pictures...sometimes. I am cognizant that not all people who are child-free (by choice or just not yet) care to read endless descriptions of my baby's doings, but I do talk about her.

Welcome, fellow grammar snob! And yes, I know the plight of the liberal southerner. My boyfriend is originally from CA. I couldn't find any southern boys who could tolerate me. ;-)

I am "child-free", but not necessarily by choice, and hopefully not permanently. I like reading about kids and enjoy my friends who have them, so no worries. I don't see why we wouldn't get along!

Hiya, I'm christa_nz (Chris), age 31, female ...

I live in Australia, but i'm a Kiwi (from New Zealand). I've been married for ... a little under three weeks now. I work as an IP lawyer in a firm in Queensland, I love cats, cross stitch and journalling, and reading when I get the time. Happy to be friends with anyone who posts book reviews etc!

I'm addicted to these friendzies.. so anyone should feel free to add me if they share interests or even if they don't :) Btw, Annie sent me!

I will thank Annie for sending so many people my way! Good to meet you, Chris.

When you say you are a Kiwi, that makes me smile, because over here, a kiwi is a kind of fruit. So tell me, do you have kiwi fruit there, and if so, do they go by a different name?

I do have a number of friends who are big-time readers (I aspire to be, but I rarely have the time to sit and read as much as I'd like.) I used to be active on goodreads and have several friends who are still really on it. I'll see about sending them your way!

Annie sent me! I've been on LJ for years, but it seems that many people are no longer around or commenting, so new friends are always welcome.

I'm Emma, I'm 25 and from the UK. I am owned by a three year old German Shepherd dog - he's had a lot of issues and I post a lot about him. I'm a part time English Literature student and trying to break into the field of writing professionally.

I do suffer from very severe depression, and often use my journal as an outlet for that - I think it's only fair to warn anyone in advance who might want to add me.

That's the very basics, I think! Any questions, just ask.

Date: 2011-04-15 12:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
German Shepherds are one of my favorite kinds of dog! I've had two purebred GSDs and one shepherd/chow mix. Incredibly smart, they are!!

I thankfully, do not have the typical clinical depression, however, while my mother was ill (she passed away in November), I did go through major bouts of situational depression. So, I can understand, at least to an extent, what it's like.

Psst! I think you're supposed to say something about yourself in the post! :-)

I'm a friend of [ profile] annietopia and [ profile] ghost_light. I go by "rainbow." I'm in my early 40s, sometimes work as a transcriber and editor, live in Canada, serve three cats who allow me to live with them, and.... I can't think of anything.

I used to have a post I made specifically for friendzies but I don't feel like digging back into my LJ archive to find it. :-)

Um, cats. Lots of cats. I talk about cats a lot. I talk about my boyfriend. I talk about Hawaii Five-0 a lot. I complain about my lousy eyesight that keeps me from reading books, because otherwise I would talk about books. I like to read books. Lots of books.

I'm autistic, and I talk about that. I have diabetes, but I don't talk about that overly much. Sometimes I talk about politics, especially since there's an election coming up very soon, and I will warn you that my politics are very, very far to the left, at least in comparison to American politics.

I'd say that 90 percent of my LJ is public, so feel free to read my profile and read my LJ to find out more about me.

Date: 2011-04-15 02:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
Oh...oops! I updated my profile/bio, so I guess I thought I was covered there. Haha!

I don't talk about my cats as much as I did, because my cat population has dwindled, and the ones I have left now were at one point feral and not the most sociable. I'm not going add more to the litter at this point, as my girls are old. But I love them and they let me pay their rent. :-)

My best friend's daughter has Asperger's and is very interested in the topic of the various spectrums of autism. I'd be very happy to hear some of your insights, and might even recommend that the two of you friend each other at some point.

I'm pretty left-leaning, but tolerant of anything but complete ignorance. I have friends of all persuasions and we pretty much coexist peacefully.

Welcome aboard!

I think I did this thingy wrong...I added before introducing myself!

I'm Melissa. A California girl who works with and loves animals. I post often. Some post make no sense to you..but it's therapy for me. My pets are my children...and don't see myself having kids of my own. But I love my niece and nephew!

Oh geez. If you're inclined to...go ahead and ad me. I'd be thrilled!
