He has discovered the cat tree.

Does he think he's hiding from me? Maybe. This morning, Oreo had her head underneath the bedskirt, but her whole back, butt and tail were sticking out. When I called her name, she jerked her head out and looked at me like "how'd you see me?!??! I was hiding!"

I may need to get a bigger tree. Oy! He's got quite a sizable butt. The rest of him is none too small, also.

And a pretty one outside, with the snow in the background.

In other, non-cat-related news, I have been doing great at the gym! Last night, I managed to stay for two classes, one yoga/pilates, and one core strength training. I never knew how many different versions of plank position you could do. I'm pretty sure last night, we did them all. Tonight I'm going to spin class, which I am SO looking forward to. I just needed that goal to work towards. I cannot be trusted to do anything, when left open-ended. I have to have a point of motivation to even function in this life, evidently, but that's OK. I've learned my strengths and weaknesses by this point.

And now, to lunch we go.

Aww. Ours loves the hide-and-seek game. She'll hide and I'll exclaim, "Where did she go?! She just vanished!!" then start 'searching' for her while her tail swishes madly from underneath wherever she decided would be the best place to hide at the time. =)

I love how they think we can't see them, when 3/4 of their body is exposed. Silly kitties!

Did you ever get my msg on FB about using a dirt litterbox with him? It's how you transition outdoor cats from the great outdoors to cat litter. A really big dirt & grass box (think rubbermaid tote with no lid and big door) that transitions over time into a mix of dirt/litter, then litter.

Good luck with the gym thing! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I have gained 70 pounds since 2000. I need to lose 50. That's a daunting number, for sure.

D'oh...yes, I did! I made him a dirt box, from my flower bed dirt (which he uses outside), but he has actually been using the regular one somewhat, especially the one in the garage. He is staying indoors a lot more, especially with the cold weather, so hopefully he is transitioning. I'm OK with him going outside to an extent, and he doesn't go very far now. Mostly just down to the wall off the driveway, or up in the edge of the woods. He's becoming a homebody.

If Sam got to the point where he would accept outside child care, would you be able to go to a Y or local gym? It's SO HARD to get motivated to do it at home. I'm determined to do this Spartan Race in March, so I'm working double time, but I don't have a kidlet to be concerned about.

And look at it this way...if you've gained 70 pounds in 11-12 years, think how good you'll feel if it takes you less time to get it off!

I wish Tom stayed a bit closer to home =/

I hate the gym, LOL. I feel like everyone is looking at me and I freak out. I went as a teen, but the anxiety got so bad that I quit. I have some new pilates DVDs to work on and I'm workin on making room in the office to use them :)

I was under weight at 154 in 2000. I didn't really have money for food, so I basically lived on ramen. Then I started dating David in 2001... and he likes to eat out. A lot. A really, really lot. And he can drop weight like mad, so 5-6 years later when he realized he was plump? He dropped it in 6 months. Me? Nope. Not so much. I figure if I can get 2 pounds a week off, that should be enough not to entirely terrorize my system (though it's gonna hurt no matter what) and shouldn't be so much to set off another gall bladder mess. I hope. I don't have time to get it taken out.

You've been eating so well, and your curiosity about vegetarianism (even part-time) is super healthy, so I've got to think that will help. After Sam gets big enough, maybe he'll be interested in exercising with you! :-)

Lil General almost never seems to go further than 50 feet from the house now that he's been tutored. I leave the garage door open enough so that he and Porch Kitty can get in, and a lot of times when he's outside, he actually stays in there. I've made them beds, litterboxes and bowls in the back of the garage, so they've got a pretty comfy pad down there. It's obviously chillier than the inside of the house, but the water never froze, even when it got down to 14 degrees outside, so I hope it's cozy enough. I took down some old comforters, straw and other bedding, so they've made a nice little nest.

And I'm sorry you hate the gym. :-/ I really, really like going, but I need that sense of community. I thrive on that, I guess. Hopefully the Pilates DVDs will help. It's incredible what a workout that can give you. And with your neighborhood, it's fantastic just for walking! OK, maybe not right now, but soon! Speaking of eating out, next time I'm in the Tri-Cities, we'll have to try to get together for LC. It's been too long!

Yes, it's been too long. We need to hang out :)

And I have a bunch of candles to give you. I know you burn them routinely and I don't... they're just taking up space and I need to get rid of them, as part of the "move shit so Sam can't destroy it" process. I'm staring at 6 right now that are "pumpkin spice" and there are size more vanilla hazelnut somewhere... and more tucked here and there. I never burn candles, but people are forever giving them to me.

Terri's favorite is pumpkin spice, so I may give her one and keep the rest for myself. *rubs hands together greedily*

Thank you!!

The plank kills me as does the downward dog. But the flex is good for me!

We did one position, I don't remember the name, but I've never felt so like a pretzel in my life. And this was "gentle flow yoga."

In the core strength class, that was where we did 97 different varieties of plank, but I can tell that I'm getting more tone and fit already, in just about a month! Last night I went to spin class and my legs were so wobbly when I first got off the bike, I looked like I was drunk. I'm sore this morning, but not nearly as bad as I feared I might be! Whew!

Doesn't he though?! Can you believe that someone (apparently) gave him up?

Has he also discovered just how gorgeous he is, too? Because I am slain, I tell you. Slain!

I'm glad you're enjoying the gym! I started the new year with a bang on Tuesday night, and my muscles are still telling me about it. Feels awesome!

I think he's pretty confident in his handsomeness. ;-) Like I said to Regan above, can you believe that someone actually gave this cat up? I cannot imagine ever letting him go.

And I am TOTALLY enjoying the gym. Spin class last night was rough. When I first got off the bike, I was wobbling, but today I'm tender/sore, but in a good way. It DOES feel awesome!! Hats off to you, too.

What was your class Tuesday night?

On Tuesdays I do cardio kickboxing from 6:30 - 7:30, spin by myself from 7:30 to 8:00 to keep my muscles warm (unless I need to stretch more than I need to spin), then do yoga from 8:00 to 9:00. When the weather allows, I also ride my bike to and from the gym, which is 10 minutes each way. I'm really enjoying this "being active" thing.

Woah, I thought I was motivated making it to two classes on Wednesday! I wish I could ride a bike to class, but it's just not feasible. I live on a twisty-turny country road, and almost twenty miles from the gym.

I'm enjoying being active, too. Sure beats depressed and unmotivated anyday.

Your tree is similar to our tree, except ours is blue.
He looks like he owns the place already!

I searched high and low for that one and can't remember if I found it on or Amazon. But thankfully it was delivered to me, because there's no way I could've lugged it from the store.

He pretty much DOES own the place. :-)

Holy cow, he looks like General. Glad he is enjoying the house more.

According to my dad, he "has a really big face." And he kinda does...bigger than General's, but still, the similarities are startling. He sometimes gets the schizo-kitty aggressiveness, but for them most part, his personality is also startlingly like General's, too.

Maybe one of these days, you can actually meet him!

Can't believe I missed these pics!! Sooo cute. Wanna hear something weird? I've never had an all orange cat before.

Can't believe I missed this comment! Although I love all cats, and I think every one of mine have their special qualities, I am of the mind that orange tabby cats, for the most part, are among the sweetest, most affectionate and friendly cats you'll ever find. I've had three and every single one of them have been just the greatest cats. If you ever have the chance to adopt one, I highly recommend it!

Hello! Absolutely! It's good to hear from you. I'm trying to get back into posting regularly, but I've gotten so out of the loop.
