My back feels somewhat better! I am cautiously optimistic! I'm going to punctuate every sentence with an exclamation point!

No, seriously, I think that massage therapy yesterday + muscle relaxer last night = a good bit of relief. It's still stiff and a bit sore, but nooooothing like it has been for the past few days. Like, I can actually turn my head without yelling obscenities.

Now the question: Do I resume normal activities and plunge head-on into all the things I've not gotten done this week? Or ease back in, lest I reinjure myself? I want to take on the world, because I'll be honest, I've been bored out of my mind and feeling like a complete waste of space this week. But I don't know if that's wise. "Taking it easy" is not exactly my forte' though.

Actually I really want some Chinese food, which is odd, because I'm normally not a fan. But right now, I'd kill for a big order of fried rice. And I know that if I eat Chinese food, I'm probably going to wind up with a migraine due to the MSG and I'll just be all complaining and whiny again. But I'll probably go anyway, because I'm weak and I have no willpower.

I'm just battling with myself...don't mind me...

Be strong! Or ask for no MSG :)

I say ease back in at a nice brisk pace. Check in with your body frequently and see if maybe it's time to rest for a bit.

Why not make your own fried rice?

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That would involve going to the grocery store. :-) So I might as well have someone make it for me.

[identity profile] theldara.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
My Mom makes good msg-free fried rice ;)

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I realized you could ask for no MSG...interesting!

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That does me a lot of good with your mom being in Knoxville. :-) My mom makes good fried rice, too, but it's not like you'd get in a restaurant.

This will probably gross you out, but we put ketchup on it!

[identity profile] darcyzero.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
go easy on yourself!!

Chinese does sound good! Migraines do not sound good though.

[identity profile] easybeef.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Go easy...we don't want you hurt again!

I'd ask for no MSG, most places will comply. If they won't then they don't deserve your business.

If it drives my nuts? I don't have nuts! :-P

And no, I don't want to do that. I feel oddly energetic today though. I'm sure it'll pass..

Yesterday when I was at Shannon's for my massage, she gave me a bunch of Imitrex. She told me that after she had her son, she started getting migraines, but then a year or so later, they eased up and she never got them anymore. But she had all this Imitrex that was about to expire in a few months and didn't need it. I was so incredibly grateful.

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd never realized that you could ask for it without! Actually, the place that I normally go, on the Bristol Highway does not seem to bother me as much. I tried this new place on Roan St. recently, with my parents, and I was sick, sick, sick. So maybe the other guys don't use it. I dunno..

[identity profile] darcyzero.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
oh my gosh!!! That's awesome!

Have you tried treximet? My DR gave me a sample and a prescription. I haven't tried it yet b/c I'm trying to use up my imitrex first. I'm hoping with the new BC I won't get them anymore.

you mean "snakeface" by throwing muses? one of my favourite songs!
glad you are feeling better, and please take it easy. -:D

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...maybe? I've only heard it called "Snake." And that's what it sounds like she's saying in the beginning.

OK, upon googling, I see that I am mistaken! I've thought for years that that was the name. Gahhhh! Thanks for correcting me!

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and that's my favorite TM song, too. Ironic that I did not know the accurate name of it!

[identity profile] heidimo.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
glad to help, since i know you are someone who cares about accuracy!

i said it is one of my favourite songs, but to pick just one by tm is difficult. i'm real fond of "delicate cutters," "green," "hate my way," "finished," and really anything off their first album and the "chains changed" ep that followed it. great band!

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It's crazy how often that song is mislabeled. I've seen at least three different locations where it's incorrect. Weird! I am glad to know the real/accurate title.

And yes, they are incredible. I love Kristin Hersh's voice. It's gravelly, yet still femimine. Have you heard any of her 50 Ft. Wave stuff? The girl can rock OUT.

[identity profile] theldara.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ew, ketchup.

Mom always puts tons of eggs in it for me. I love fried rice with lotsa eggs.

If you want it local just go in and ask them to make you some fresh, specify that you are ALLERGIC to MSG. I didn't do that last time we went for Chinese, and I should've! They don't have to put the MSG in and usually won't if you ask before the dish is made.

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I have not. Is it a triptan drug? I'm glad your doctor finally realized that you actually HAVE migraines. I was about ready to come down there!

[identity profile] nonspecific.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Take it easy!

And I'll eat Chinese with you, and by all means ask for no MSG! They keep it in a bowl hanging on the grill and toss it in as cooking, I've seen it. Or I could fix fried rice, either way. I don't put MSG in mine. :P

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, apparently when my dad was in Vietnam, they'd eat ketchup on their fried rice. I have no idea how or why, but that was how I grew up eating it. I remember the first time I got it out in a restaurant, I was wondering where the ketchup was.

[identity profile] darcyzero.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's imitrex mixed with naproxen. My doctor told me taking naproxen along with imitrex can help tremendously.

Yeah, finally my doctor is listening to me! Thank you lord!

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
General has no nuts. He's been tutored.

I didn't sleep worth crap either. I was sleepwalking big time, but I'm just thankful my back is not throbbing today.

[identity profile] bluesilverkdg.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm probably gonna go get some now, but we can go out later and get it, if you want.

I would hope you don't put MSG in yours!

[identity profile] heidimo.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
i blame the internet, and illiterate people perpetuating misinformation through file sharing and such--same as the current tendency to file artists by first name rather than last. no library or record store does that--it began with file sharing by illiterates. (and yes, my itunes lists all artist by last name, because i am geeky like that.)

yes, i like kristin hersh's solo stuff and a little bit of 50 ft wave. i like it all, but nothing compares to tm, especially their earlier stuff.

btw, you made me a fan of holly golightly! thanks!
