No, I'm not fishing. Just saying..

I just received the most nicest, sweetest compliment from [livejournal.com profile] ellettra, which totally made my night (back at'cha darlin'!) And I want to talk about it.

It kinda takes me aback when people tell me I'm pretty. When I hear words like "stunning", I have a hard time believing they're actually talking about me. Compliments don't make me uncomfortable. I mean, I totally appreciate them. But I guess I still just have some difficulty wrapping my mind around them sometimes. I get a lot of comments and compliments on my hair and my smile, which is good, because I really like both of those things a lot, too. But again, it's just a little odd to think about. When I was younger, I was a definitely plain child. The Awkward Years were awkward indeed. I used to think that the only person who'd ever tell me I was pretty was my mom.

What's ironic is the fact that my smile is what gets noticed before just about anything else. Until I was 11 and acquired some loverly braces, I had total rabbit teeth. They looked too big for my face, stuck out way too far and had a gap in the middle that rivaled Madonna's. I hated smiling when I was a kid because I was self-conscious about them. Now I smile all the time (it truly does make people wonder what you're up to!) It's just funny how things work out, and I've gotta say, next to my piano lessons, I think those braces were the best investment my parents ever made.

I also didn't really like having photos made of myself when I was younger (like the unpleasant puberty years, ick.) Now, as you may have noticed, I rather enjoy it. In fact, [livejournal.com profile] nonspecific and I are gearing up for a big photoshoot this weekend (woohoo!), so I'm just preparing y'all for the photospam of mass proportions that will most likely follow.

OK, no real reason for this post. Just that I'm feeling OK and I'm really happy that I have such nice friends who make me beam. :-) I just got over a migraine that knocked me on my butt for two days, so something so sweet was even more appreciated.

And now, let's toddle off to bed to sleep the collapse of non-migraininess.

I get a serious charge out of seeing people connect, be it a big or small way, when I know them both- even more when I helped make the connection.

(I know, this works with electrical sockets, as well. I try to avoid that.)

Not sure, but I think I introduced you and Kristen ages ago.

I DO know I just introduced you to [livejournal.com profile] elbiesee, chatting with her on That Other Thing the other night and talking about music. I'd never known she played piano, so I mentioned that you, erm, dabbled in it a bit. That's where that Friending came from.

And we all know you're gawgis. Keep going on about it, whydontcha;)

Oh, that reminds me, I need to add her! I got the request the other night, but my connection was being wonky and I finally just gave up and went to bed.

And yes, you did introduct Kristen and me!

Thank you, for always being a cheerleader. :-)

contrary to accepted lj logic, feeling ok or being really is happy is a perfectly fine reason to post! ;)

Yeah, it's funny, I used to post when I WAS happy. And sad. And lonely. And angry. And excited. Now I just don't, but I'm trying to start doing that again. :-)

I was just thinking of you today. I actually was listening to Vienna Teng and I was wishing how I could've given you more of a heads-up on the show, because you'd have loved it.

You do have a thousand-watt smile, so I am not surprised that you get lots of comments about it. The photoshoot sounds like fun - I hope you have a great time, and I for one am looking forward to seeing the results!

Sorry to hear about the migraine. I'm glad to hear you're recovering now, and I hope you feel better after your sleep.

It's funny, we see each other all the time, but Kara's only really photographed me (kind of) extensively once, but I like the photos she takes of me. OK, I make it sound like I'm Heidi Klum here.."photographed extensively." You know what I mean. Something more than a few snapshots at a Christmas party.

This is the first day since Tuesday that I have not been headache and nausea-stricken. I feel like I'm just going to come out of my skin, I'm so glad to not be in pain anymore. Thank you. :-)

I generally don't compliment your looks, because I'm focused on what a wonderful, funny, and understanding friend you are, but do know that you really quite beautiful inside and out. I tend to notice eyes, though, and yours are always twinkling or sparkling. They really stand out and give you a wonderful glow.

Well, I think whenever we see anyone as much as you and I do, you kinda get over the "you look great today", unless someone is just looking exceptional (which both of us have done, but you know what I mean.) But thank you for that!

I'm glad to have the sparkle back. At least I hope it is. :-)

I love Kara photo shoots! I wish I was there to do make up or something.

We need to have another one, so if you're available, I'd love for you to do makeup! We did this one outside, and I looked all squinty and funny. I did try to do a pose like yours (sans hat, unfortunately), but you do it much better than me (and Kara concurred.) :-P

That would so much fun! Outdoor shoots are hard to do- the good thing about them though is that if you can somehow not squint, the sun makes your eyes look really gorgeous.
