I'm thinking that sometimes you just need to learn your lessons the hard way. Since burning half the fur off his butt didn't seem to teach him that fire is indeed hot, this time, he seems to be contemplating the other end. Maybe when he's lost a few whiskers, he'll realize that fire is hot no matter which body part you put in it.

Also, he seems to be fitting in a little better with the locals

He and Oreo are having some serious issues. Well, he chases her every chance he gets, which is no doubt quite annoying. Needless to say, she's not exactly fond of the new kid. So, I decided to have a little catnip party. Nothing like getting baked to bring a family together, right? It did seem to work somewhat. This time, when he tried to pounce on her, she hissed and swatted at him, because he was messing with her high. After that he pretty much left her alone so she could have some time with the catnip-infused mousie. Meanwhile, General contemplates the floor.

Misty is still not feeling totally well, but she has been coming out some, and napping on the couch. He was making an effort to be sociable. I think he genuinely likes Misty. Or maybe he's just intimidated by her, because she's like five times his size. At any rate, he never chases or pounces on her, and does seem to have a real interest in making friends.

Yesterday, he fell asleep in the plant. It was only later that I realized Misty was also under the TV, and he was apparently trying to get close to her. They napped like this for quite some time.

Last weekend,
headbanger118 and family came over to meet the new arrival. (I swear, it's like when you have a new baby...everyone wants to come see him/her.)

Jungle gym time. Playing the part of the Joker will be General.

So anyway, I'm alive. Thanks for your comments and well-wishes. I wound up staying a few days with my parents. My meds made me sort of dizzy and nauseous so I was happy to stay with them. I'm finally feeling better, although the ulcer does still act up a bit. I'm just trying to stay as calm as possible, which is easier said than done.
