Yeah, I'd imagine so! I'd always heard of the War of the Roses, and I'm sure that in 7th grade TN History, we probably studied it, but it got lost in the shuffle when learning about everything else.
"Southern Democrat" is still a dirty word. ;-) You should see some of the looks I get when I confess I'm not a Republican. Most of my family members think I was hatched from a spaceship.
I actually live about 20 minutes from the site where all this took place. You know, a lot of history went down here, and I feel kind of inspired to research more of it. Some of my family members were the first known settlers in the area, and I've been to their farm, but now I'm intrigued to find out more about what happened here back in the day.
