At one in the morning, here they are. Good grief. Some of these photos just did NOT want to cooperate.
A preview. Unfortunately, Melora's microphone was planted firmly in front of her face for almost the entire show, and the crowd (and speakers) were so that I couldn't maneuver over to get any better ones. But, I was within a couple of feet of Zoe, so I have some primo pictures of her. But first....all three:
Pre-game festivities:
Dexter and me in the backyard. Directly behind me is the mud that I slipped in the night I was trying to figure out what my neighbors were up to.
Now, off to Asheville. Every time I visit this town, I could totally see myself living there, and I realize how much I've always loved it. *sigh* One day. One day, I'll move there.
These were taken at the Laughing Seed, where we had dinner. Here's Elise after polishing off her shitake corn cake:
Cheryl and her fabulous square plate:
And we three (this just happened to be taken by the ultra-cute, super-friendly waiter that Cheryl wants to marry. I only asked him to take the photo so we'd have an excuse to talk to him. ;-P I think the guy behind us is playing charades:
We had our pictures made with this fine lady:
And in case you missed it the first time, yes I did indeed wear fishnet thigh-hi's.
Outside the venue! Sqeeeeee!!!!
The opening band was Tarantula AD . I had heard of them before, but other than knowing that they also had a cellist, I didn't know much about them. As I described them before, they are definitely "interesting." I've heard several comparisons, including the Mars Volta. That's *possibly* a little accurate, as they do definitely use a lot of classical elements, but with a much harder sound. But they are just sort of hard to pin down. I did like much of their set, especially when they were really rocking. The quieter stuff, not so much. But anyway...here ya go They were quite swarthy:
Thank you, tall guy in front of me, for moving RIGHT in as I took this shot. It's not like I'm SHORT or anything:
He totally shredded his bow on this one:
Finally, 11:40ish, Rasputina came on. There was a band playing downstairs "in the basement", which was somewhat disruptive. And Zoe kept getting TERRIBLE feedback. But they were quite good-natured about it, and eventually it became a joke. Even with all the setbacks, it was still an amazingly good show and the audience was so very, very appreciative and happy:
During one of Melora's "stories":
Jonathan actually sang on one of the new songs:
Post show:
Jonathan was quite friendly.
This is when Melora said in a very amused tone "wow, you're even shorter than me." I don't even remember if I talked to Zoe, I was so beside myself at that point. I think the only thing I was thinking was, Melora's fake hair felt like Easter basket grass.
All righty. Whew! That's that. And now I'm going to bed. Hope you enjoyed the show!
