I just heard that Tim Russert has died of a heart attack. I figured if any of the MSNBC guys would have a heart attack, it would be Chris "let's play Hardball" Matthews.
He was only 58. I remember when 58 seemed ancient, but now it's only 18 years older than me. That just seems so astounding.

I've watched his animated election returns for years. He would get so excited with his white board, explaining the processes of votes. This will be a strange election without him. Well, not that it won't be strange anyway but still..wow.

Apparently he was a big advocate of family time, so while I can't comment on his diet or exercise habits, he did apparently make an effort to spend time with his loved ones, and encouraged his fellow journalists to do the same. He did seem very close to his family (remember the book he wrote about his dad?) He was keynote speaker at his son's recent college graduation, and had a long marriage, so hopefully he did get a lot of quality time with the people who were important to him.
