I was just typing an e-mail when General jumped up on the keyboard and said:

killllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I think perhaps he is struggling with some anger management issues. That reminds me of the time that I was chatting with a guy who turned out to be pure evil. But while we were still on good terms, Sabrina hopped on the keyboard (during our IM) and typed "6666666666666666666666666666666."

Perhaps I should start listening to my cats. They seem to know stuff.

In other news, it snowed like woah here yesterday/last night. Some of it has melted, as the sun came out earlier. But now it's snowing again and looking pretty bleak. I'm not sure of the conditions of the actual roads and highways. I like to think they've been scraped and salted, but we ARE in Tennessee. Snow Management is not exactly our forte'. My parking lot and roads just around my condo, however, still look like a skating rink. I was going to walk to the mailbox and nearly took a tumble about three feet from my house. This leads me to wonder how exactly I need to go about leaving my house. I've got *some* groceries, but of course, I'm craving things that I don't have and didn't think to get. And of course, once I've acquired the goodies that I'm craving right now, I won't want them anymore and will need something else. Some people are just never satisfied.

So, I was debating walking to the store, but I don't know that that's going to work. I don't have any shoes or boots that are exactly geared for bad weather and snow. All my boots are decidedly for "cuteness" only. I think I'll go ahead and try to drive, although that may not be the best idea. It's crazy, because I grew up living and driving in much worse snowstorms than this. When I was a kid, we'd get like 8-10" and think nothing of it. But it's been SO LONG since we've had any snow to speak of, I feel like a complete novice.

Evidently we're supposed to get another storm tonight, and with low temps in the single digits, things don't look promising. I should probably go ahead and stock up while I can. I do feel VERY fortunate that unlike my friends in Kentucky, we do actually have heat and power still. And I'm cranking it up to ridiculous levels. I'll need to sell a kidney to pay my heating bill next month.

Remember when I used to live in Knoxville and I complained because we never got any snow? Haha...yeah. I remember that, too. That was funny, wasn't it?

Oh, your prophetic cats...

Stay safe and warm, my friend, and don't take that heat for granted. Love it, stroke the thermostat, and tell it you love it and never want it to go away.

Oh, I know. Like I told you the other day, when we had our Gigantic Storm about ten years ago, we did without heat for almost a week, which was enough to make me go out of my mind. I can't even imagine what you guys are going through. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you get it back soon.

Well now Kim, I didn't think you were supposed to crave anything but Milk, Bread, and toilet paper when it snowed. At least that's how it is here.

Oh, I think it's that way everywhere. The milk I can see. I love milk. But I don't remember the last time I ate bread. As for toilet paper, I stock up on the nine billion rolls from Sam's, so I'll have toilet paper until 2012. ;-)

I would KILL for some chocolate, and much as I hate to admit it, that's the main reason I'm contemplating going to the store. PMS, perhaps? I dunno.

Did you get any snow there?

We had a dusting last week that melted by about 10am.

We've had flurries and some snow fall, but nothing sticks. I really would like to see about 6-8 inches fall though.... if it's going to be this cold it should freaking snow. It's only 24 right now.

We had a couple of inches within about an hour last night. I've not seen it snow like that in a while. It's been flurrying all day, and the temps are right around freezing. If the sky is any indication, we're in for a doozy again tonight.

I think you're in the wrong part of the state for that much snow, dear. ;-)

Ooookay, and the sky just opened up. It's snowing like crazy now. Like, the air is totally white.

I didn't get out of our driveway till 11:30. Most folks got out at 8 - then again, they had blacktop and we have concrete. BIG difference on days like this! The main interestate is clear though and Washington County has been out gritting secondary roads. I had no trouble once I got onto our main road and Eastern Star. Dave slipped twice on Eastern Star, but he's in a truck. He didn't report problems (this was around noon) in Gray. Kingsport is pretty much clear, they barely got a thing.

Now, things could get dicey once the refreeze occurs. I'm not parking in my driveway tonight, cause there's no way I'll get back out of it.

I can barely get out of your driveway when it's clear, dry and daylight! I cannot fathom trying to do it in these conditions!

I'm going to go ahead and make a Food City run, I think. It just started snowing like crazy again. I think through Colonial Hts was pretty messy, but in Kingsport, sounds like they got almost nothing. I'm supposed to do Kara's henna tonight, but kinda thinking that may not happen. If she's nearby, let her know. If not, I'll e-mail or text her. I just don't want to get stuck out in this, y'know?

I think the roads right around the house will be OK. I just talked to mom and she said the secondary roads in Erwin were slushy and slick. I'm wondering what it's going to be like if we really do get these single-digit temps tonight.

A lot of people say that about our driveway! It doesn't really bother me, but I'm on it every day ;)

Snow I don't mind, really like it. It's this %#@$# ice that I hate.

Snow is supposed to continue over night and it'll be below freezing by 6pm. Travel might not be wise. Kingsport would be fine, as would the interstate probably, but once you get off 75 and into your development, it might be tricky.

Right...that's what I'm concerned about. Just the actual getting home. My night vision is getting really screwy anyway, and the snow messes with it even more. We may just have to wait until next week. I saw her hair Saturday night, and it looked fine anyway. Plus I forgot to thaw the henna. *oops*

Your driveway just has this angle that's hard to navigate, and I always wind up in your yard. It's a little steep, but I've driven on steeper...that angle though, is what totally messes me up. But yeah, if you do it every day, I'm thinking you should be used to it. :-P

Ok, Jenn just told me. We can do it later on. I don't want you to get stuck or die.

Yeah, my parking lot was actually already starting to get slick at 4:00. My car bobbled a little as I was turning to pull into the garage.

It's supposed to be spring-like again this weekend, so maybe first of next week should be good. Plus, I need to thaw the henna. I totally forgot to get it out of the freezer.

So, how much snow is on the ground there now? A co-worker has to drive up to visit the Kingsport Housing Authority tomorrow, and is curious.

From what I'm hearing, Kingsport has virtually nothing. But the further northeast you go, the worse it is. We've got maybe three-ish inches right around my house, I'd imagine (although it's coming down pretty hard now.) I just talked to my mom in Erwin though, which is right on the NC line, and they've got a lot more with the roads in not very good condition. Evidently the interstates are OK, so he shouldn't have to worry there. Kingsport rarely gets that much snow for some reason. I'm not sure how that works, but should bode well for anyone having to travel through. I think that Greene County got a pretty good bit, which he'll pass through on the interstate, but should be OK since he won't actually be driving IN Greeneville.

I'll give you a better report tonight and/or tomorrow and let you know if there are any big deal changes, OK?

Kingsport has the Industry Heat Dome (Eastman, the paper mill, etc - all hot!). Sorta settles over the valley and prevents a lot of what the surrounding area will get. From about Rock Springs on one side and Lynn Garden on the other of I-26, you get normal weather. In between? Not so much.

Ahhhhh, I was wondering about that. Because I remember in '98, when we got totally inundated with 18" in Johnson City, Kingsport literally had nothing. My ex in-laws were from Kpt and we couldn't get ahold of them to see if they were all right. Turned out, they were out with friends and had no idea it was snowing in JC!

I can't imagine having that much snow consistently. It's kinda cool on occasion, but for months and months at a stretch? NO thank you.

See, coming from the south, you understand why this is such a big deal!

Thank GOd that other snow never materialized or I'd still be at Mom's and someone would be dead.
