They've been hittin' the 'nip again.  Here's the evidence.

Oreo and General are still inhaling the aroma (I sprinkle it on the carpet), but Sabrina is already high as a kite.

Duuuuuuuude...

Sabrina is a total stoner.  You can see dribbles of catnip on her chin and forehead.

But the REAL hardcore stoners are Oreo:

And General. Yes, he is actually licking the carpet.

Misty is a bit more subdued, but you can see from the wild eyes, she totally loves it.

By this time, Sabrina has come down a bit, and is saying "WTF are you doing?"

General discovers gravity.

And Oreo discovers her feet.

What?  Paranoid?  Who?  Me?  Who wants to know??!

Catnip, oh catnip.  How do I love thee?

I love thee thiiiiiiiiiiis much!

As you can see, my babehs don't just get any old catnip, they get the "Premium" shiznit.

Passed.  Out.  Cold.

(He's fine now. In fact, he's lying on my lap asleep as I type this.  I'm sure he's feeling pretty good.)

The End.

Oh God... General cracks me up SO much. He's so animated!
He also reminds me of my old cat, Mr. Peel.

He cracks me up, too! He and Oreo are the two who get the most into the catnip. They start rolling and thrashing around like crazy.

You showed me a picture of Mr. Peel. He was gorgeous. :-)

He still is gorgeous.. but he lives with his other (and original) mommy. I still see him sometimes. :)

He was a total schizoid when I met him, and I did all of this 'play therapy' with him and now he's a total love bug. INTENSELY so. Sometimes so much so I wished I hadn' done the therapy work with him. (heh)

Duhhh...that's right. I knew that.

Was he a schizoid in that he was just frightened/timid or what? Sabrina and General are both (and always have been) insanely friendly and social cats. Oreo and Misty only come out to play with me, but pretty much stay away from everyone else. It's so interesting to see their individual personalities.

Yes! They absolutely crack me up when they're high. I was laughing until there were tears streaming down my face.

People who say cats don't have personality or aren't fun creatures have never really experienced one!

:-)

I just almost had a light blue cat.....someone (I'm not saying who) woke up from his nap & sneaked a jump onto the table where I was painting something. Somehow my reflexes were quick enough to grab him just in time, but it was close.

you just reminded me - when I go out to get a new disposable poop box for Hadassah I need to get her a catnip infested toy :)

I love wheat poop litter :)

I can't buy catnip infested toys for mine. I bought them this little stuffed mouse one time. It was demolished within five minutes.

Wheat poop litter..???

Ha..yes it is! I would LOVE to know the effect that catnip has on them. It seems to be very short term, because after a few minutes, they're right back to their (relatively) normal selves. But when they're on the catnip high, they're all rolling and thrashing around like crazy. It must be some really good stuff.

Sabrina seems to be affected the least by it. Misty is medium, but General and Oreo are hardcore.

And yep...I got General first, then Misty and Oreo soon after in 1997. Sabrina came along in 1998, and the family was complete. :-) Misty is the one that you rarely see in pictures. She hates being photographed (unless she's high, then she doesn't seem to mind.) She was feral until my ex and I found her, so she was very timid and shy for years. Only within the last year has she really started coming out, even for me to pet her. Oreo is very shy around other people, but is friendly with me.

the mind is a terrible thing to waste. We haven't tried nip with the new boy, Moe. Cornelius isn't into it, but Hiss does the same kinds of thing Oreo does.

My stinky cat used to love it -- it used to be just like pot - she's get all crazy trippy, then she'd slow way down, then she'd go running for munchies.

HA...funny you mention that..I actually took a picture of Oreo and General fighting over the downstairs bowl after their trip. :-)

I've heard that boy cats tend to be more into it than girls, but Oreo threw that idea right out the window. You should try it with your new baby. And take pictures. :-)

Haha! Yeah...my babies aren't any too sure. They have a blanket with a hole on one seam, so I can fill it with catnip...and that goes over really well. Argyle, the calico, isn't any too sure after a little bit-- she snuggled the blanket until she rolled off the chair it was on, and now regards it suspiciously-- but Ellipsis is all about it.

Do you have a lazer light? I just got a little lazer pointer thingie-- and my gawd, I have never seen Argyle so into a toy in the whole of her life. The apartment is trashed from her knocking over everything, setting the rug askew, et all. She's still a little less than three years old, but she's a sedate little critter-- however, that damned little red dot!! WHERE IS IT NOW?! THERE!! KILL! KILL!!

It's hysterical to watch, though since she spends at least ten minutes anxiously searching for it after I've turned it off, I'm a little nervous it might give her a complex...

*b.

ps--

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I have never tried a lazer light with them, but I've had people ask about it. I should get them one. Sabrina loves to chase things, so she'd probably be all about it.

And you're very welcome. I hope it was great. :-)

You should totally submit the second one and the second from the last one to cat_macros or caturday XD. I'm sure there's someone who could have a field day with them.

These pictures are great!! I love when we break out the catnip for my girls. It is the only time they can be in the same room without breaking into some WWF showdowns.

When we lived at the farm, I made the mistake of hiding the catnip package in a drawer in the kitchen. The drawers had those childproof locks so I figured things were safe. I was very wrong. Sarah somehow opened the drawer and shared her prize with Sammie...all over my kitchen floor. They finished off the entire bag and passed out. It was pathetic.

Ha...yes, it's like they develop superhuman strength and abilities when it comes to getting in the 'nip! I have to keep mine in the laundry room, on the top shelf over the washing machine. I used to keep it on top of the grandfather clock, but Oreo figured out how to get up there, so I moved it.

Did they eat the whole bag?? I'm surprised it didn't make them sick! And yeah, General was totally passed out in that last picture. He was just lying there in a stupor. :-P

Ahahahaha, this is awesome. Sniff is above the influence. He gets no joy from the nip. He pokes at it a little, then runs off to do something else.

I feel like I'm missing out.

He's probably just not old enough yet. Give him a little time to grow up. Apparently most cats under six months, and some under a year old, are not affected by it, for some reason. I'm not sure why this ability has to be "developed", but it does. So...try him again in a bit and see what he does. :-) Boy cats are usually more into it than girls, for some reason, too (although Oreo is a total catnip junkie, so that's not an absolute thing.) Hopefully he will discover the joys of addiction after he gets older. ;-)

Sometimes Gen gets really aggressive after his high, too. Oreo is just Miss Mellow "I'm gonna roll around the floor and examine my toes." It's funny what different effects it has on each cat, huh?
